I just spent some time re-reading through older posts from when I first started this blog two years ago. It’s funny how our subconscious guides us sometimes, because I had been pondering the idea of how Coffee & Lilacs has changed since its beginning, how much I have grown and what I have learned…how we’re evolving together, this little blog space and I.
Over the weekend, I participated in an arts & craft event in Yountville, (a quaint town just north of Napa, best known for its infamous culinary scene, especially a little place called the French Laundry.) When I was invited to be a vendor, I knew that I would not be able to hold a booth space by myself…I just don’t have enough product yet. But not wanting to say no, I agreed to take a leap forward, hoping it would work out. Thankfully, I know several talented artisans (knitters and jewelry-makers extraordinaire) who were willing to help me fill up the space with their lovely handmade items.
It was a real collaboration of love and creativity, of sharing our unique talents and passions, working together and communicating. I felt so uplifted by the joining of our efforts and our accomplishments, turning it into a truly beautiful day.
Today as I read through those early posts, I realized the steps I’ve taken along the way to make it this far. I never would’ve thought that I could be selling products or doing craft fairs or having an etsy shop, but somehow by doing what I love, it all seems to be falling into place and I keep pushing forward. By no means do I have it figured out…it’s a constant juggling act for me to fit all the components of a creative (budding) business into my life. There is so much that I need to work on; ideas that I’d like to develop more thoroughly, documenting the work better, balancing the time between making and marketing, updating the blog design and finally getting real business cards printed.
Yet somehow, the ball keeps rolling and either it’s moving me or I’m rolling it, but we are in motion and that feels great. I’d like to keep on dreaming and rolling and making right along for many more years to come.
