Iced Coffee To Go

Let’s face it…I love coffee.  I wouldn’t have used it in my blog title if I didn’t. I love the way it smells, looks and tastes…hot or cold. I don’t drink a lot of it, maybe a cup a day. Some days I go without it, but when I have it, it’s a serious love affair. Piping hot first thing in the morning or iced cold in the heat of the summer afternoon.  The smell of it brewing brings me right back to my grandmother’s kitchen table, to the Parisian cafes I would visit while studying abroad, to the coffee shop I worked at while in college.

But let’s face it, it’s only economical to drink it everyday if it’s made at home, since I’m no longer in college and live within walking distance of a coffee shop.

I usually keep a tray of coffee ice cubes in the freezer to use for iced coffee.  Today I used the leftover coffee from yesterday and poured it over the cubes with some half & half. I like to drink cold drinks out of our Ball jars, but I needed to drink this one on the go. So, I poked a hole in the lid and made my own to-go cup.  Great way to save money AND get my fix.

Of course, you could do the same thing for iced tea or lemonade or whatever your cold drink of choice is.  Grab a jar and a straw, poke a hole in the lid and enjoy!
