After a couple weeks of constant colds, coughs, fevers and whatever other ailment could find its way into our home and infect us all one after the other, we finally felt well enough today to sojourn out into the world past our front door. We decided to pack up the car and head to the beach, where it would be cool enough to be outside even in the heat of the day and much more relaxing than trying to keep the kids entertained indoors.
It was just what the doctor ordered: sunshine, smiles and sand.
These two little boys loved splashing in the water, digging in the sand and then running to Mama for a warm cuddle. The wind was just right to fly our kites and we watched it dip and dive up and down the shore. Levi grabbed his “Explorer Sac” and went out with Daddy in search of shells, rocks, bones and driftwood while Calvin and I buried each others’ feet in the sand. The sky was bright blue and clear without a cloud in sight. It was a perfect day.
Seeing Levi feeling and acting more like his old self was so reassuring. He even made it through the hour long car ride without losing control which was pretty amazing. The storybook on CD that we listened to might have had something to do with that though. And of course, how could I go on a car ride without a hook and some yarn? Impossible. (Been working on a few fun things lately and will post about them soon.)
Hope you all had a lovely weekend, too.
